Other Offerings

  • Kid's classes

Kids classes focus more on nature, plant identification and less on what to eat, as their age allows. They are significantly less expensive than regular adult classes and are perfect for birthday parties, or as a way to light up your child’s sense of wonder in the natural world.

  • Land Consultation

Are you a land owner with a wooded lot or meadow? Does it need some serious rehab from invasive species? Do you want to know what native and edible plants exist? Book a consultation, and James will come out to your property and walk the land with you, and talk about any concerns and dreams. We will follow up with a summary of resources and insights, and the opportunity to continue working with us.

  • Private Foraging Classes

If you’d like to take your entire family or group of friends out for a foraging class, you can book a private event with James. This can include a dinner or not, and can be planned on a week day or weekend.

  • Corporate Team Building Foraging and Food experiences

James has taken out multiple companies or organizations for foraging classes and food experiences, from the OSU department of Emergency Medicine, to the staff of the lovely Goremade pizzeria. This is a great way to use your team building budget, especially if your business is at all food or nature-related!

  • Staff Trainings

James has trained groups of staff at camps such as the historic Camp Wyandot, and other related educational organizations. The trainings empower the staff members to level up their outdoor education knowledge to include plant and mushroom identification in their local environment, and provide a greater understanding of the ecosystem and how to play a positive role in it.

  • Community Events

James has been featured as a speaker at various community events such as the annual Ohio Mushroom Festival, Columbus Creative Mornings, and the upcoming Columbus Home and Garden show. He has also participated in and hosted philanthropic events, donating some of his class earnings to worthy causes such as the Land Back initiative by NAAICO. Occasionally he will have a guest along with him at the public foraging classes to build community and provide more value, such as the renowned herbalist Rae. from Oracle Botanical. If you’d like to invite James to speak at an event, or collaborate on a worthy cause, please reach out below.
