Experience Ohio’s landscapes from a whole different perspective.

Humans on the landscape

Have you ever felt disconnected, being unable to identify or even notice the plants and environments you live in?
Most of us in modern society have grown up with curated natural spots, where invasive species and ornamental plants reign supreme, and we still probably couldn’t name them. Identifying and understanding the uses of plants and fungi has been a part of being human since the beginning, and it’s a skill lost to recent generations. It can be the first step in the journey of reconnecting with your local landscape and cultivating a deeper understanding of ecology.

James Mann leads foraging classes and workshops in the Columbus and central Ohio region for this reason. He grew up in Appalachian foothills of Ohio, foraging mushrooms and other wild edibles with his grandpa, and wants to share the abundance and connection. In the last two years, he has taken hundreds of people out into the woods to learn more about their local environment, and find wild food. Find out why he wants get more humans on the landscape at a class this spring.
